Online Check In
For your own convenience bmi online check-in lets you print your boarding pass and check-in for your flight up to 30 minutes before departure. The online check-in service is also available 24hrs a day 7 days a week.
Fast bag drop desks are available to passengers that have checked in online in most UK airports and will close up to 30 minutes before departure.
Self Check-in
Self check-in machines are available at most UK airports. The check-in closing times are as follows:
- 30 minutes prior to departure on a domestic flight.
- 30 minutes prior to departure on an Eastern European short haul flight.
- 45 minutes prior to departure on all other routes.
All passengers travelling on economy and economy saver fares on short haul flights are required to use online check-in or self check-in where available. Bag drop desks are available in most UK airports and will close up to 30 minutes before departure.
Desk Check-in
If you are travelling on a business, premium economy or economy flexible fare you can use the desk check-in. The desk-check-in is also available for Star Alliance gold card holders and bmi silver card holders (except when travelling on economy saver fares on short haul routes).
Desks open at least 2 hours before departure.

Travelling to USA & Caribbean:
- Business 2x 32kg
- Premium Economy 2x32kg
- Economy, Economy saver 2x23kg
- bmi gold/silver diamond club and Star Alliance gold members 3X32kg.
Travelling all other destinations:
- Business unlimited numbers up to a maximum weight 30kg
- Economy flexible Economy Saver unlimited up to 20kg
- Economy saver on short haul routes 2x10kg
- bmi gold/silver diamond club and Star Alliance gold members up to a maximum weight of 50kg
The bmi lounge is available for passengers travelling in Business or on an economy flexible ticket. These lounges are designed for you to relax and unwind before you fly or you can simply carry on working with access to the following services and facilities:

If you are a Star Alliance Gold member you and 1 guest may use the lounge if it has a Star Alliance Gold Lounge sign.
Children under the age of 18 that are travelling with an eligible ticket can access the bmi business lounge if supervised by a parent or guardian.

In the economy cabin you will have a choice of fine modern cuisine, offering a complimentary bar service on their flights from Heathrow and on our Manchester services bmi offer a paid for alcoholic drinks service in the economy cabin. All soft drinks are complimentary.
