Burj Al Arab

Introduction to Burj Al Arab

Burj Al Arab

Moored like a tall ship in the Arabian Gulf is a billowing, sail-shaped structure – at 321 metres high, taller than the Eiffel Tower. A curved causeway links this unique hotel to the mainland. Guests arrive in style by helicopter (there’s a helipad on the twenty eighth floor) or in a chauffeured Rolls Royce.

It’s worth staying two or three nights here simply to experience the hotel’s in credible opulence first-hand. The 202 Duplex Suites, all with sea views, are lavishly appointed with rich fabrics, gold plated furniture and marble bathrooms. Every mod con is provided – laptop computers with Internet access, multimedia entertainment systems and remote controls for everything from the curtains to the door. The two palatial Royal Suites even have a private lift and cinema. A reception on each floor caters to guests’ every need, and each room has its own butler.
The opulent theme continues in the public areas. In the lobby, a giant aquarium teeming with vivid tropical fish, eels and sharks descends into the underwater themed restaurant Al Mahara which, fittingly, serves seafood. Guests access the restaurant in Jules Verne style, via a three minute simulated submarine voyage. Even more impressive is the Al Muntaha restaurant – meaning highest in Arabic – suspended 200 metres above the Arabian Gulf with stunning views of Dubai and the coastline. Other dining options include the informal Bab Al Yam beside the hotel’s pool and sun deck, and the sea view Al Iwan at the heart of the hotel’s gold pillared atrium, the tallest in the world.
The hotel’s 18th floor houses a library of over 1,000 books and the luxurious Assawan Spa and Health Club. With its sauna, steam rooms, pair of pools, gym and extensive menu of treatments, it offers unlimited pampering in glittering surroundings.
At night, the hotel’s white sail becomes a rainbow of spectacular light displays, affirming Burj Al Arab’s standing as an icon on the Dubai skyline.

Panoramic Suites
While all the suites feature floor-to-ceiling windows, the 18 Panoramic Suites offer particularly breathtaking views of the sea, thanks to their location at the corner of the hotel. The sweeping windows on each side create an impression of living within glass walls, with the Arabian Gulf shimmering beyond.
