Grenada Luxury Holidays
One of the most beautiful of all the Caribbean Islands, Grenada is known fondly as Spice Island. Your senses will succumb to a variety of delicious aromas, lush panoramic scenery and a feeling of warmth conveyed naturally by the local Grenadians.
The capital, St George's, has retained a certain prettiness lost by many of its counterparts. Nestled into a hillside above the little busy harbour, its vibrant history blends curiously with the hustle and bustle of the colurful, fragrant market, the symbolic churches and that essential Caribbean rhythm. An excursion or two into the countryside is an essential part of one's holiday - stop to bathe under a waterfall; clamber over tracks in search of that special stand of cocoa trees; visit Grand Etang, a metallic blue lake in the crater of an extinct volcano.
Golf
The Grenada Golf and Country Club is a pleasant but not particularly challenging 9-hole golf course located near Grand Anse. Most hotels have negotiated complimentary green fees for their guests. Facilities at the club include club rental, instruction, a bar and caddy service. Green fees start at approximately EC$40 for nine holes.
Dish of the day
Grenada's speciality in conch. Grenadian caviar (roe of white sea urchin) and a fish called 'Stuffed Jacks' also appear on many restaurant menus.
Aquarium Restaurant: Fresh seafood; international and local dishes.
Brown Sugar Restaurant: Grenadian cuisine.
The Red Crab: Probably the best lobster.
True Blue Bay: Combines Mexican and Caribbean dishes, and caters for families with a kids' menu and playground.
Also recommend Rhodes Restaurant at Calabash; La Dolce Vita at Mourne Rouge; The Nutmeg.
Family fun
Families are most welcome at Spice Island Inn and The Calabash Hotel and Villas particularly during summer months. There is a variety of accommodation to suit.
