Virgin Islands Luxury Holidays
Made up of over 100 stunning islands and cays, the British and US Virgin Islands were first discovered by Columbus, who proclaimed them "Las Virginees", due to their pure, untainted beauty. Little has changed since those days - the islands form a diverse region of outstanding beauty with breathtaking beaches and rugged mountains.
Each of the islands, most of which are uninhabited, has its own distinct mood and character, from the easy going feel of Tortola and the excellent watersports of Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands; to hip and stylish St Thomas and the national parks of St John in the US Virgin Islands.
Steady winds and unique anchorages have contributed to the Virgin Islands gaining their reputation as one of the world's premier sailing destinations. We highly recommend you combine a stay at one of our hotels with a few days sailing - look out for our sail and stay special combinations.
Getting around
Exploring the Virgin Islands is easy with regular ferry schedules between the larger inhabited islands - some even pick up and drop off at hotels. Alternatively, you can rent a motorboat, charter a yacht or hop on a short flight between these enchanting islands.
Beaches and water sports
The beaches of the Virgin Islands are renowned as being some of the most stunning in the world - characterised by powder soft white sand and the gin clear water, they are the most idyllic places to relax!
The spectacular underwater landscapes, teeming with colourful marine life and the crystal clear waters provide superb diving conditions for novice and expert scuba divers and snorkellers. Our favourite beaches include:
BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS
Long Bay on Tortola is a shimmering stretch of soft, powder sand. Smugglers Cove and Brewer's Bay on the north-western coast of Tortola.
US VIRGIN ISLANDS
Cruz Bay on St Jonh is one of the island's most beautiful beaches with an exotic backdrop whilst Trunk Bay on St John features an underwater self-guiding snorkelling trail, ideal for beginners.
Magens Bay on St Thomas's rugged northwest coast is hailed as one of the world's most beautiful beaches and is the perfect place for swimming and snorkelling. Sapphire beach on St Thomas is a favourite of windsurfers.
Golf
The Mahogany Run Golf Course on St Thomas is a championship, par 70, 18-hole course, designed by Tom Fazio.
