Introduction to Jumby Bay - A Rosewood Resort
Introduction
Bordered by pristine, empty beaches and lush with tropical plants,
this 300 acre private island offers true exclusivity. The island is
shared with only a flock of skittish wild sheep and a colony of endangered
Hawksbill turtles in their own protected reserve. This seclusion is reflected
in the resort’ s ‘no key’ policy – staying here is like being a member of a
private club.
Anything is possible at Jumby Bay. Meticulously managed by Managing
Director, Peter Bowling, its services and amenities are second to none,
st arting with a welcoming glass of chilled champagne on the transfer
launch from the Antiguan mainland. Guests will find such attention to
detail extends throughout their stay, from refreshing sorbets on the
beach to bicycles and walking sticks for exploring the island.
The 230 year old Estate House is the elegant venue for evening
cocktails and dinner, with afternoon tea served on the croquet lawn.
The open-air verandah, beneath a vine-covered pergola on the seafront ,
makes a sunny setting for breakfast, lunch and sundowners. Whatever the
time of day, chef Erik Gremmer’s gourmet cooking is always a highlight,
and with guests’ dietary requirements enquired about on arrival, all tastes
are thoughtfully catered for.
The 40 rooms and suites and 11 villas all have sea views and are
luxuriously appointed with CD players and fine linens. Each suite is
individually designed, and all have colonial-style four poster beds.
Overlooking Jumby Bay Beach are the spacious one bedroom suites and
sophisticated Courtyard Suites, while in the Spanish-style Pond Bay
House, elegant rooms cluster around an open-air courtyard furnished with
teak chairs and tables. Good for families and groups are the 11 villas at
Harbor Beach, featuring sunken livi ng rooms with plunge pools on the
verandah.
Whichever accommodation you choose at Jumby Bay, you’re assured
an unforgettable stay.
