Al Maha Desert Resort & Spa was winner of “Best Hotel – Africa and Middle East”, and presented the World Legacy Award by National Geographic Traveller in 2004. This exclusive and private resort is set around an oasis, located within 225 square kilometres of Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve. Al Maha provides an extraordinary and luxurious experience for the discerning traveller with a glimpse into the heritage, history and romance of Arabia.
The Bedouin – inspired suites create a sanctuary amid the dunes. Each of the 37 Bedouin suites are exceptionally private and romantic, and all feature a temperature-controlled pool, handcrafted furniture and authentic Arabian and Bedouin ornaments. For the up most in luxury the spacious Royal Suites boast magnificent bathrooms made with local stone and private dining rooms. The floor-to-ceiling windows let the dramatic savannah views; framed by the distant Hajar Mountains, flood in.
As night falls dine on a gourmet blend of Mediterranean and Arabic dishes, uniquely combined using regional Gulf ingredients. Individually prepared classic courses are available and guests are welcome to develop their menus with the Executive Chef.
A wonderful display unfolds as you sit on the main verandah with a cocktail in hand; Enfolded by the silence and darkness of the surrounding desert, watch as animals congregate at the nearby floodlit waterhole. Located 40 minutes from Dubai city, Al Maha is a sanctuary for both man and the beast alike, its private nature reserve rekindling the surprising life of the desert. The resort offers a wide range of traditional desert activities from falconry to desert safaris on camel, horseback and 4x4. With field guides accompanying the safaris, to seek gazelle, oryx, fox and Arabian wildcats.
