Introduction to Mnemba Island
Introduction
A little way off the coast of Zanzibar there basks a sun-caressed island protected by a crescent of coral reefs, an underwater Eden of colour where the surface is broken by leaping dolphins and flying fish. It is a tiny secret world of linen white sands, giant turtles and magenta sunsets; it is Mnemba.
Hidden in the dappled shade of tropical foliage, each split-level beachfront banda cottage comprises a spacious en suite bathroom and private verandah with built-in barazas –perfect for after noon siestas.
A pristine swathe of beach defines the island’s one mile circumference, and a protection zone surrounds the island, conserving magnificent coral reefs. Indulge your passion for water sports and deep-sea fishing, and be sure to experience a dive.
Meal times are extremely flexible as the lodge’s charming staff are willing to serve your meals where ever and whenever you please. Dining and bar areas have been built along organic lines, allowing unimpeded access to breathtaking sea views. There ’s no dress code - this is a bare foot hideaway pure and simple. Small wonder it was selected by Condé Nast Traveller as one of the three most romantic ocean destinations in the world.
