Introduction
Voted the 'Most Romantic Hotel in the World' by TripAdvisor visitors, this calming hotel is tucked in the north eastern corner of the island, in the village of Grand Gaube and is inspired by the ancient Chinese philosophy of feng shui, which advocates living in harmony with the environment.
Each of the rooms and suites reflects one of the five elements, metal, earth, fire, water and wood, while the spacious villa at the far end of the hotel mingles them all. All feature private terraces and balconies facing the ocean. The Presidential Villa also offers a private plunge pool and beach, outdoor Jacuzzi, barbecue, separate dining area and a second bedroom with bunk beds, ideal for children.
Indeed, younger guests are well catered for at the resort with The Little Mermaid children’s club for 3 to 11 year olds and a teen club for older children. Adult activities include tennis and water sports, while The Spa by Anne Simonin offers a huge range of therapies, from massages and reiki to yoga and tai chi classes. The spa also has a seawater pool and a well-equipped gym.
The feng shui theme continues into the restaurants, where colours and flavours delicately balance yin and yang in East meets West fusion dishes or traditional Mauritian fare. After dinner, relax in one of the three bars, browse the walk-in wine cellar; or perhaps enjoy a game of mah jong in the Cigar Bar or library.
