This project is situated in Deogarh, rural Rajasthan. Here you will have a real hands-on experience and understand the challenges of
education in rural Rajasthan, led by the international award-winning organisation Ibex Expeditions. Learn about the collaboration with
the Rawat family of Deogarh (the local Royal family) and how they are working with local schools schools to build a better community.
Engage in income-generation initiatives for the schools. Meet many of the parents and local dignitaries.

The Project
The objective of this tour is to give you a real hands on understanding of the challenges of education in rural Rajasthan, led by the international award-winning
organisation Ibex Expeditions. Learn about their collaboration with the Rawat family of Deogarh and how they are working with local schools to build a better community.
During your stay you will be guests of the Rawat family in the Mahal.

• Learn from experts and local people about the cultural,social, and economic
context of education in rural Rajasthan from experts and local people.
• Meet the Rawat family and learn about their family history and the work
of their charity.
• Engage with Primary schools in Deogarh,Rajasthan in communities identified
by the Indian Government as below the poverty line, participating in an
‘education through play’ programme.
• Engage in income-generation initiatives for the schools.
• Meet many of the parents and local dignitaries.
• Stay at the historic Deogarh Mahal owned by the Rawat - ‘the local Royal family’.
Programme and Itinerary
Every one of you has a range of unique skills and experiences. Your programme and time with the project will be designed to create a
mutually worthwhile and fulfilling experience, and you will gain real insight and knowledge of the project.
Day 1: Today in Delhi you will be given an orientation about the work in rural India undertaken by Ibex Expeditions and
people and places. Meet your Field Director who will accompany you from Delhi to the project at Deogarh.
Day 2: Accompanied by an Ibex Field Director, you will take a flight to Udaipur with a two and a half hour road journey to
Deogarh. On arrival, you will have time to freshen up before you are introduced to key family members.
You will also be introduced to the town of Deogarh, a step outside the Mahal.
Day 3: This morning you will be driven to the school and introduced to the staff and students and learn more about
the school, the children and community it serves. The school Principal and your Field Director will detail their plans for
your time with the school and finalise the plan for the next four days.
Day 4: Your work at the Chitardai School starts in earnest. Your programme may include education through play, English,
sports or IT, depending on your experience.
Day 5: Continuation of your work with the school.
Day 6: This is your final day and will see the
staff and they will in turn thank you through song and dance. You will also have an opportunity to visit the local hospital
that serves the Deogarh community and gain an understanding of the challenges it faces. The Rawat family
are keen supporters of the hospital.
Day 7: After breakfast we will retrace our journey to Udaipur and take the flight to Delhi, arriving in Delhi mid-afternoon.
From here, you will be transferred to your hotel where you will bid farewell to your Field Director.

dates.
