CREES Foundation - Conservation/Rainforest
The objective of this conservation/community experience in the rain forests of Eastern Peru is to give you real insight into
the collaborative work being done by the CREES Foundation, Academics and The National Park to enable local communities
to build a better future for themselves whilst protecting one of the world’s true bio-diversity hot spots. During your project experience
you will stay at the Romero rain forest Luxury Lodge, in Manu National Park.

The Project
The objective of this tour is to give you real insight into the collaborative work being done by the CREES Foundation, Academics and The National Park to enable local
communities to build a better future for themselves whilst protecting one of the world’s true bio-diversity hot spots.
How will you give a little and gain a lot?
• Learn from experts about the work being done in one of the world’s most
precious bio-spheres.
• Gain a perspective of this important work from National Park guides, local
communities both indigenous and displaced, and environmental and
development experts.
• Do something worthwhile – rest assured that your short time with the projects
will make a difference and your money will be used sustainably.
• Travel the Manu river by dugout canoe and stay in a stunning luxury eco-lodge.
• Work hands-on in scientific research, education and wealth creation projects.
Programme and Itinerary
Each guest has a range of unique skills and experiences; with these
in mind your programme will be designed to create a mutually
worthwhile and fulfilling experience.
Day 1: Meet your expert guide; fly from Cusco to the Manu reserve then travel by motorised dugout canoe to your luxury lodge,
learning more about the Park as you travel.
Day 2: Morning briefing on wildlife monitoring techniques then accompany National Park Guides and assist them in their
monitoring work. A relaxing evening spent at the lodge learning more about conservation.
Days 3 & 4: Continue the work started yesterday using canoes, catamarans and walking.
Day 5: Travel downstream to visit a Matsiguenka community and learn about the challenges this indigenous community faces.
Day 6: Another day with the Matsiguenka community learning more about education and income generation initiatives.
Day 7: Return to Cusco, first calling in to bid farewell to the Park Rangers.

All projects in the IT C Giving Programme are available throughout the year, subject only to local religious festivals and holidays and to school term
dates.

Minimum 4 people and maximum 6 people per tour.
